Over 50% of hispanics living in mexico are living in poverty. There are over 10% that do not even have access to water. When traveling through mexico this summer I had a chance to see the great juxtaposition that encompasses many tourist towns in Mexico.
Some of the Richest living amongst some of the Poorest.
As this boy and I locked eyes I couldn't help but wonder,
Why him and not me?
We were born to very different circumstances; he to an underpaid working class and I to a middle class, white, American family.
I feel very privileged to be a person born into one of the greatest nations on earth.
Yes, I agree, there are many difficulties faced by people in this country, but none are equal to the hardships of the 3rd world.
The more I travel throughout the world the more I realize how amazingly lucky I am to have the family, friends, and opportunities that this great country offers.
I feel it is our duty as the privileged to help those that may not be able to help themselves.
Bart Orlando is an amazing man, with an amazing vision.
He uses the sun to cook.
He made a solar oven out of an old satellite dish.
For the short amount of time I was talking to him he had given out pounds of rice to hungry little kids. He says that he can cook over 100 servings of rice on a good day.
He uses the rice that he cooks from the sun to give to the local homeless people.
What a man.
A man with a vision of epic proportions.
